Things That Needed Tweaked:

-While trying to avoid spoilers, and saving them for the end of the year post, too much of the ending of Days Of Future Past felt too much like the ending of First Class.

-All of Jersey Boys should have just been like the musical number during the end credits.

-Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, while being very good on an emotional level, should have been more fun at times, and when it ended, it just felt like that it was still missing something, aside from the fact that it was indeed just a giant set-up for Apes 3.

-Sin City: A Dame To Kill For had a solid opening and a strong middle, but the final chapter just wasn’t as exciting and frankly not as interesting as it should have been.

Am I the only person who thinks that the poster for If I Stay looks like an American Eagle advertisement?

#TheGiver was actually pretty good. I really liked the message and how it was delivered. It was basically a mix between Divergent and Pleasantville. Yes, I know The Giver was created before both of those, but I have to speak from my own point of view. The experience of it being a motion picture is my introduction to it. Apparently you like it more if you haven’t read the book, or at least that’s the impression I’ve gotten a few times. One jackass tonight in our theater couldn’t wait until he left the auditorium to announce the forced pun of “Well, I myself GIVE that two thumbs down!” in a very proud tone like that was the most clever thing anyone ever said. Really, dude? Really? How long before you walked into the movie tonight did it take you to come up with that one? Anyway, I give it a 8/10, and yes, I liked it more than The Hunger Games. Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep were good, and the star Brenton Thwaites GAVE a nice performance (I’ve became the very thing I hated an hour ago…). Well, I guess I’ll be making my Summer 2014 list soon.

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For was a good way to end the Summer. I enjoyed it. It’s probably not as great as the first, but 9 years later that doesn’t even matter to me, because I’m just glad it exists. Josh Brolin was awesome, but I’m biased since I think he’s always awesome. Eva Green, coming off of 300: Rise Of An Empire, continued her “Frank Miller she-devil man-eating villainess” role (seriously, she’s one crazy bitch). It was nice seeing Mickey Rourke as Marv again (still the most entertaining and fun of the original 3 “heroes” in the first film). Joseph Gordon Levitt was a cool addition, I just wish the ending of his story was better. Finally, even though Jessica Alba’s story is supposed to be aimed for pay-off (and pay-back) and closure, it is the weakest chapter. Overall, a worthy nostalgic sequel to a film of grand novelty and art. The 3D is actually cool, too. At its worst, it’s a 7/10. At its best, it’s an 8/10. It’s getting harder for me to rate movies as one solid grade. Well, I guess I’ll hibernate until Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar…
